For the forthcoming series against New Zealand, Sri Lanka Cricket revealed their ODI and T20I teams, with former skipper Dasun Shanaka still being left out. Since Dushmantha Chameera was sidelined for the July series against India due to bronchitis and a respiratory ailment, Charith Asalanka will retake the team’s captaincy.
After playing in a 50-over match for Sri Lanka against New Zealand during the 2023 World Cup, left-handed batsman Kusal Perera returned to the ODI squad. Perera recently helped Sri Lanka win the third Twenty20 International against the West Indies with a score of 55 not out.
Pacer Mohamed Shiraz, who debuted against India in the first ODI but hasn’t played since is also included in the ODI squad. The T20I team, meanwhile, is identical to the one Sri Lanka selected for their 2-1 victory in the three-match series against the West Indies.
New Zealand’s white-ball tour of Sri Lanka begins with the start of the T20I series. The first ODI on November 13 and the T20I matches on November 9 and 10 will be held in Dambulla. Pallekele will host the final two ODIs on November 17 and 19.

The T20I squad consists of Dinesh Chandimal, Avishka Fernando, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Wanindu Hasaranga, Mahesh Theekshana, Dunith Wellalage, Jeffrey Vandersay, Chamidu Wickramasinghe, Nuwan Thushara, Matheesha Pathirana, Binura Fernando, Asitha Fernando, and Mohamed Shiraz.
