With a resounding win by eight wickets in the third match of the Twenty20 International series against South Africa, which took place at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad, West Indies were able to complete a 3-0 sweep of the series.
West Indies were able to comfortably chase down South Africa’s goal of 116 with 22 balls left in the game, which was cut to 13 overs owing to rain. Nicholas Pooran (35) and Shimron Hetmyer (31*) made significant contributions to the team’s success, with Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer backing up Shai Hope’s unbroken 42.
Despite a remarkable effort by Tristan Stubbs, who hit a fast 40 off only 15 balls, South Africa had a difficult time gaining momentum in their game. Both Akeal Hosein and Matthew Forde bowled well in the beginning of the match, which helped to keep South Africa’s scoring pace under control.
South Africa was able to reach 108 for 4 because of Stubbs’s aggressive hitting, which allowed them to succeed after a rain delay that reduced the number of overs played by each team by seven.
However, Pooran swiftly grabbed charge of the situation, smashing his first delivery for six and continued to dominate the South African bowlers. The West Indies lost Alick Athanaze early on in their pursuit, but Pooran quickly took control.
After that, Hope grabbed control of the situation by hitting three sixes off of Kwena Maphaka, while Hetmyer contributed further by hitting a six and numerous boundaries. The West Indies were able to achieve the goal with relative ease, and Hope sealed the victory with a booming six over the covering wicket.
