The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), have acquired Danni Wyatt-Hodge from UP Warriorz (UPW) in advance of the WPLJ’s third season, which is anticipated to begin in early 2025.
Wyatt-Hodge will get the same INR 30 lakh that UPW paid for her at the most recent auction in December 2023, according to a statement from WPL.
With 164 appearances for England, Wyatt-Hodge, 33, is the third-most-capped player in T20Is worldwide, behind only Harmanpreet Kaur (177) and Suzie Bates (171).
He has scored 2979 runs at an average of 22.91 and a strike rate of 127.85, including two hundreds and 16 half-centuries. She also played well at the last T20 World Cup, leading England to score 151 runs at a strike rate of 124.79 and an average of 50.33.
She had a base price of INR 50 lakh and was not selected in the first WPL auction. Despite being acquired by UPW before the second season, she could not play a game because UPW finished fourth in the standings and missed the playoffs.
RCB captain Smriti Mandhana remarked, “Danielle is a game-changer and a phenomenal athlete.” “Her abilities and passion for competition are a wonderful fit with our team’s goals.
We are thrilled to have her join the RCB and are looking forward to her enthusiasm for the team.” They are due to submit their list of retained players in early November, and an auction is anticipated to take place before WPL 2025, potentially in December.
Six players from abroad may be included in each team’s maximum of 18 players. Sophie Devine, Ellyse Perry, Nadine de Klerk, Kate Cross, Sophie Molineux, and Georgia Wareham were all part of RCB’s foreign team the previous season.
