Shakib’s Future Will Be Decided By BCB Following The Upcoming Rawalpindi Test

Faruque Ahmed, the head of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, stated on Saturday, August 24, that the team will decide on Shakib Al Hasan’s future following the current Test match against Pakistan.

In a murder complaint filed on Thursday, August 22, Rafiqul Islam—the father of Rubel, a worker at a textile factory in Dhaka—named Shakib as the suspect. Rubel was killed on August 5 in Adabor.

In response to the allegation, Supreme Court attorney Shajib Mahmood Alam submitted a legal notice to the BCB on behalf of Advocate Md Rafinur Rahman on Saturday via email and registered mail, requesting that Shakib be immediately removed from all “forms” of cricket.

According to the International Cricket Council’s regulations, Shakib is not permitted to continue playing for his country’s cricket team because he has been mentioned in a case, as stated in the notice that Cricbuzz was able to get and view.

Additionally, the notice requests that Shakib be brought back to Bangladesh as quickly as possible to aid in the advancement of the murder case investigation. It is also necessary to notify the ICC of this development.

At the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday, Faruque held a lengthy meeting with a few of his board directors. He stated that they had not yet received the legal notice.

Shakib

The newly appointed president of the BCB did, however, also add that they would decide Shakib before the second Test against Pakistan, which is set for August 30 in Rawalpindi.

Permit me to talk about Shakib. There is a case open. We have not yet received a legal notice. After the meeting, Faruque informed reporters, “The case has a first information letter (FIR) and will be investigated further. After that, it will proceed in one of two ways.

The fifth and final day of the test is tomorrow, and I don’t think we’ve given it any thought as to where we want to stand. When the game is done tomorrow, we’ll sit down and make a choice. According to the contract, BCB and Shakib Al Hasan have an arrangement similar to that of an employer and player. We can make precise decisions after tomorrow based on the legal notice that we have received. He said, “I can’t take him out of the middle of the Test match.”

“There is a gap between the games as the second Test match comes from August 30. We can consider what might be done in this area during this time,” he continued. Faruque continued, “We are confident that we can host South Africa in the upcoming two-match Test series at home,” citing the ease with which a bilateral series can be played in contrast to a major international tournament. Due to political upheaval in Bangladesh, the ICC recently moved the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates.

“As we have some time, we are in contact with Cricket South Africa. There are many logistics and security concerns when hosting a tournament, but I don’t see any issues when playing a bilateral series. There isn’t a travel ban in place for South Africa, and the upcoming series is against them.
