Australian fans are happy that their star batsman Steve Smith will join the Australian side as test captain for the test series against Sri Lanka. Australia will play two test matches against Sri Lanka before the final of World Test Championship against South Africa.
Steve Smith was announced as a captain against Sri Lanka for the series because Pat Cummins is out of action due to ankle injury and his second son’s birth.
During BBL, Steve Smith was injured and it was being heard that he wont be able to lead the team during test matches due to theinjury but the batsmen has been cleared by the medical team.
He is going to lead the team in two match test series against Sri Lanka. It is confirmed that Australia and South Africa have qualified for the World Test Championship so any result from these test matches wont change the match.
Australia has played 17 matches during this cycle of test championship and won 11 matches out 17, 2 went to draw and they lost 4 matches. Sri Lanka on the other hand has played 11 matches, out of which, they won 5.
Steve Smith got injured on the elbow while playing BBL. He also has a history of elbow injury and had a surgery back in 2019. He departed late because he had to obtain green signal from the doctors but his go ahead has boosted the team’s morale a kot.
Steve Smith is considered as one of the greatest batsmen of this generation, and is among the ‘Fab 4’ of cricket as well.
